Mauritius China Free Trade Agreement

China and Mauritius signed a free trade agreement (FTA) on 17 October 2019. This is China’s first FTA with an African nation. The agreement will reportedly give Mauritius duty-free access to about 8,547 products, representing 96 percent of Chinese tariff lines.

 

The China-Mauritius Free Trade Agreement comprises 17 Chapters encompassing Trade in Goods, Sanitary and Phyto-sanitary Measures, Technical Barriers to Trade, Competition, Intellectual Property, Electronic Commerce, Trade in Services, Investment, Economic Cooperation, amongst others.

 

The FTA provides clear guidance on Rules of Origin, Market Access for Goods schedule for Mauritius and China and Services Market Access schedule for Mauritius and China.
