The support of CIEL Textile for the fight against COVID-19

CIEL Textile in Mauritius and Madagascar, a member of CIEL Group, like the MITCO Group, joined forces in the fight against COVID-19 by producing protective masks matching international sanitary standards to support the communities.

CIEL Textile in collaboration with the Mauritius Export Association has rapidly adapted its production lines to produce protective masks in partnerships with the C-Care team, a private hospital based in Mauritius, forming part of the healthcare cluster of CIEL Group. The Research & Development team has been working assiduously to develop the best alternative protective mask to fight the transmission of the virus and protect the population in the given actual context.

Since March 2020, 4.5 million masks have been produced and more than 200,000 masks have been donated to the local authorities and NGOs in Mauritius and Madagascar.

The textile cluster of CIEL Group has built enough capacity to produce masks for exportation and the local market which can be ordered through their website mymask.mu. They have also started to produce gowns which are suited to the medical practitioners.

It is remarkable to see a whole team adapting and innovating within a short period of time during a crisis situation. Kudos to the CIEL Textile Team!
