The Breast Cancer Awareness month at MITCO Group
The month of October is also known as Breast Cancer Awareness month. This motive is to spread awareness about the condition which is easier to treat in the early stages and to educate women as to how to recognise some early symptoms before the cancer spreads.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) wants us all to realise that breast cancer is one of the most prevalent types of cancer and that about 2.3 million women were diagnosed with the condition in the year 2020.
Around 685,000 deaths worldwide in the same calendar year are due to breast cancer. The curing rates are very high indeed but due to lack of awareness, the common signs and symptoms of the condition go unnoticed and thus lead to the cancerous growth spreading and progressing to further stages.
Having more than 70% of its workforce being women, MITCO Group wants to educate, empower and raise awareness of all its employees on Breast Cancer. We have thus organised talk sessions with the collaboration of LinktoLife, an association of a non-profit organisation whose main purpose is to provide support and counselling to cancer patients and their families, for all MITCO employees. In addition, employees are encouraged to wear pink the last week of October to sensitise and show their support to fight against Breast Cancer.
Let’s work together to fight the disease. Our actions matter.
