The introduction of the Family Occupation Permit

In the last Mauritian Budget, the Government of Mauritius introduced the Family Occupation Permit (Family OP). 

 

The Family OP is a permit which offers the possibility to the applicant, his/her spouse, dependent child, parent, other dependent or such other person working exclusively for the family unit on application, to become a resident for a period of 10 years.

 

To be eligible for the Family OP, the applicant should make a minimum contribution of USD 250,000 or its equivalent in freely convertible foreign currency to the COVID-19 Projects Development Fund.

 

The applicant and his/her spouse are allowed to work and invest in Mauritius with the Family OP. Moreover, any other person (for instant maid, carer, cook) working for the family unit may take up employment with the applicant for the purpose of attending to the needs of the family.
