Mauritius ranks 1st in Africa and 52nd globally in the World Happiness Report 2022
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the World Happiness Report, established since 2012 and is based upon two ideas:
o Happiness or life evaluation as evaluated by opinion surveys
o Identifying key aspects that determine well-being and life evaluation across countries.
The report typically evaluates countries based on various factors, including real GDP per capita, healthy life expectancy, social support, freedom to make life choices, generosity, and perceptions of corruption.
The report ranked 146 countries this year, in which Mauritius has been ranked 1st in Africa and 52nd globally.
The pandemic brought not only pain and suffering but also an increase in social support and benevolence. As we battle the ills of disease and war, it is essential to remember the universal desire for happiness and the capacity of individuals to rally to each other’s support in times of great need.
