WHI 2023 - Mauritius is the happiest country in Africa

Mauritius remains the happiest country in Africa according to the World Happiness Index 2023 (WHI 2023) with a score of 5.902.  This further confirms the country’s ability to transcend despite all the odds.  On the worldwide ranking, Mauritius occupies the 59^th position.

The WHI is the flagship report of the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network, and it assesses 156 countries on the perception of happiness by its citizens.  In assessing the state of happiness, the WHI takes into consideration several factors that contribute towards happiness including social support, income, health, freedom, generosity, and absence of corruption.
