MITCO Charitable Foundation
We are pleased to inform you that MITCO Group has set up a Charitable Foundation (the “MITCO Foundation”).
The vision of MITCO Foundation is to contribute to the sustainable development of Mauritius and our mission is to empower both our clients and employees in charitable projects which shall focus mainly on the following areas: -
- The advancement of education
- The betterment of Health Care
- The protection of the environment
- The provision of assistance to the vulnerable
Our first project under MITCO Foundation:
We have been approached by an NGO – ‘ I can Special Needs School’ to assist them in the relocation of their school at Beau Bassin.
Background of I Can Special Needs School:
I CAN Special Needs School, registered as an NGO, is a specialized school providing equal access to education to children with a range of different special education needs including: intellectual impairment, developmental delay, specific learning difficulties such as Dyslexia, Dyscalculia and Dyspraxia, ADHD, behavioural problems, Attachment Disorder and Oppositional Defiant Disorder, and Autism. I CAN has been operating in Beau-Bassin since 2013 and currently has 56 students ranging in age from 5 – 20 years old. Students are from different regions around Mauritius, namely: Beau-Bassin, Quatre Bornes, Curepipe, Rose Hill, GRNW and Pointe aux Sables, Vuillemin-Quartier Vuillemin, Bamboo, Cassis and St Croix. The school has a dedicated team of 22 people i.e. teaching staff (educators, assistants and carers), a paramedical team and administrative staff. I Can cater for children of different backgrounds: middle class, low income families and children from shelters. Each child is catered for as per his/her specific needs through an appropriate personalised curriculum. There are 5 different activities that form part of their education system:
- Education/academic activities
- Paramedical Team
- Food Program
- Staff Training
- Parent Workshops
Assistance of the MITCO Team
During the last 4 Saturdays, the MITCO Team has helped the NGO to paint the new school which is situated at Beau Bassin.
It was a really good experience for MITCO Team to contribute for the advancement of this project.
