Global Peace Index 2022: Mauritius at the top of African countries

According to the Global Peace Index (GPI), Mauritius remains the most peaceful country in Africa. As per the World Ranking, the country is in 28^th place out of the 163 states.

Moreover, the GPI notes that Mauritius has experienced an improvement in peacekeeping compared to last year and has improved as compared to its ranking in the Global Peace Index 2021. It has been noted that there has been a decrease in the crime rate. Progress has also been noted in the military field whereby there has been a decrease in the importation of weapons.

 

The top five most peaceful countries, according to the Global Peace Index (GPI), are Iceland, New Zealand, Ireland, Denmark and Austria.
