Establishment of the National Contact Point

One of the action points emanating from the National Budget 2023/2024 related to the implementation of the National Contact Point (NCP), whose objective will be to promote Responsible Business Conduct and the handling of cases as a non-judicial grievance mechanism.  To that end, the Economic Development Board (National Contact Point) Regulations 2023 would be promulgated to provide for the establishment of the NCP.

 

It will be further recalled that as part of its adherence process to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)’s Declaration on International Investment and Multinational Enterprises, Mauritius was required to have a mechanism in place to establish and promote Responsible Business Conduct.
