Tourism: Mauritius experiences post pandemic recovery of 92.6%

Two years after the complete reopening of the Mauritian borders which took place on 1 October 2021, the island crosses the threshold of 2 million tourists – the number of tourists reached 2,068,736 tourists as of 30 September 2023.  This represents 92.6% of pre-pandemic levels for the period January to September and confirms that the recovery of the tourism sector is well under way.  The Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority is now actively working on a market diversification strategy focusing on Asia, Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa.
