Mauritius – Indonesia Preferential Trade Agreement

Mauritius and Indonesia went through the 4th round of negotiations on the Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) on 20-21 December 2023, in a bid to finalise the outstanding issues in the main text of the PTA and the Rules of Origin text.  Discussions were also held on the market access offers in both countries.

Amongst others, Mauritius will be offered market access to the following products: special sugars, fish and fish products, pineapples, lychees, instant noodles, fruit paste, soap, stuffed toys etc.  On the other hand, Indonesia will be granted market access that will cover a range of products including but not limited to some items of furniture, textiles, paper, vanilla, automotive and soap.

Both countries are expected to exchange their updated revised market access offers by the 3rd week of January 2024 while the final round of negotiations has been fixed for later this year in either February or March 2024.
