Mauritius-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement: second round of negotiations

Following the first round of negotiations which was held in July 2023, the second round of negotiations on the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between Mauritius and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) was concluded in December 2023.  Negotiations were centered on Market Access for Trade in Goods and Trade in Services, Intellectual Property Rights, Rules of Origin, Investment Facilitation, Financial Services and Dispute Settlement.

 

It is noted that the CEPA is the first agreement of its kind that the UAE has entered with an African country, and it is expected that it will further enhance the trade between Mauritius and the UAE, by promoting non-oil bilateral flows and opening new alleyways for collaboration.
