Skills & Experience
Smita Shersingh is a Barrister-at-Law with expertise in taxation, corporate, and commercial law. Admitted to the Bar of England and Wales in 2010 and the Mauritius Bar in 2012, she brings extensive experience advising across both public and private sectors on complex regulatory, contentious, and cross-border matters.
She currently serves as General Counsel at MITCO, where she provides strategic legal guidance on fiduciary, regulatory, and multi-jurisdictional issues. Prior to this, she was a Senior Manager at PwC, advising multinational and domestic clients, and served as in-house Legal Counsel at the Mauritius Revenue Authority, where she regularly appeared before courts and tribunals. She began her career in Chambers, advising on financial services, company, and employment law.
Qualifications & Professional Development
She holds an LL.B. from the University of Nottingham (UK), completed the Bar Vocational Course at Nottingham Trent University (UK), and obtained an LL.M. in Commercial and Corporate Law, a Postgraduate Diploma in International Dispute Resolution, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Equity and Trusts from the University of London (UK).
